Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Manager, Data Engineering and Analytics to lead our India-based data and analytics team. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving the strategy, delivery, and continuous improvement of business intelligence, data engineering, and analytics support functions. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in financial services data environments combined with strong people leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of data engineers, BI developers, and analytics support specialists based in India.
Set clear objectives, manage performance, and foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and accountability.
Partner with global stakeholders to align team priorities with business outcomes and organizational strategy.
Manage resource planning, hiring, and onboarding to scale team capabilities in line with business growth.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise BI dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics solutions.
Ensure delivery of accurate, timely, and actionable reporting to support business decision-making across retail banking, risk, compliance, and finance functions.
Drive adoption of BI tools and promote data literacy across the organization.
Establish and enforce standards for report governance, version control, and documentation.

Data Engineering & Pipelines

Manage the design, build, and optimization of scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehouse solutions.
Ensure data quality, reliability, and integrity across all data flows from source systems to consumption layers.
Lead the evaluation and adoption of modern data engineering practices including cloud-native solutions and real-time data streaming.
Collaborate with IT and architecture teams to evolve the data platform and infrastructure roadmap.

Analytics Support & Enablement

Oversee the analytics support function, ensuring timely resolution of data requests, incident management, and SLA adherence.
Establish escalation frameworks and triage processes to prioritize and manage analytics requests across business units.
Act as a key point of contact for business teams requiring analytical support, data extracts, and ad hoc insights.

Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement

Contribute to the broader Data & Analytics strategy, translating business needs into executable roadmaps.
Engage with senior stakeholders to understand evolving data needs and proactively identify opportunities for analytical value.
Represent the India team in global data governance forums, steering committees, and cross-functional initiatives.
Produce executive-level reporting on team performance, delivery metrics, and strategic progress.

Knowledge And Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field (required).
Master's degree or MBA with a quantitative focus is highly desirable.
8+ years of experience in data and analytics roles within financial services, banking, or a related regulated industry.
3+ years of people management experience leading multi-disciplinary data teams.
Proven hands-on experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, or equivalent.
Strong background in data engineering, including SQL, ETL/ELT pipeline development, and cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder environments and deliver under pressure.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
Experience operating in a global, matrixed organization with offshore/onshore delivery models.

Preferred Knowledge And Experience

Experience with modern data stack tools such as dbt, Apache Spark, Kafka, or Snowflake.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake as the preferred cloud data warehouse platform (experience with Azure Synapse, BigQuery, or Redshift is a plus), including architecture, performance tuning, and cost optimisation.
Demonstrated use of AI and productivity tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Claude, or equivalent LLM-powered assistants) to accelerate development, automate repetitive tasks, and improve team delivery velocity.
Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data cataloguing, and regulatory data requirements (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR).
Exposure to advanced analytics, machine learning model operationalization, or AI-driven insights.
Relevant certifications in data engineering, cloud platforms, or analytics (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, AWS Analytics, Snowflake SnowPro).
Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.
