What You'll Do
- Lead the development of machine learning algorithms in Wayfair's algorithmic customer understanding, content and product recommendations for powering personalization.
- Grow and manage a team of ML scientists and machine-learning engineers.
- Own the forward looking roadmap and executional plan for a team and be accountable for the team plan to achieve this ambitious roadmap.
- Develop technical leadership within the team and continuously upskill the team while modeling a culture of continuous research and innovation.
- Collaborate closely with the product and engineering leaders in our Customer Technology group to build a next-generation personalisation stack for search and recommendations and the organization required to maintain and innovate on it
- Contribute as a senior leader beyond the Customer Technology group, in particular within Wayfair's broader ML science community
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
- 9+ years of industry experience, with at least 1-2 years experience as a manager of teams and 7+ serving as an IC on production ML systems.
- Track record of leading teams and building scalable customer-facing machine learning products that work in real-time with low latency and drive tangible and material business results.
- Deep familiarity with search and ranking, or content recommendations as well as experience building scalable applications around technology such as Spark/Python/Airflow/GCP or AWS and Java.
- Ability to partner cross-functionally to own and shape technical roadmaps and the organizations required to drive them.
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to always be learning!
We Are a Match Because You Have
- PhD in Computer Science, Data Science or related field
- Familiarity with Generative AI and their usage in improving search and recommender systems.
- Familiarity with GCP (or AWS, Azure), ML model development frameworks, ML orchestration tools (Airflow, Kubeflow or MLFlow)
