Job Description
The Infrastructure Sr. Consultant II is responsible for infrastructure design, selection and implementation by leading incident support and resolution efforts. The Infrastructure Sr. Consultant II takes the lead on tasks related to automated monitoring and alerting solutions, metrics creation and reporting, applications integration and problem management. The role manages, prioritizes, and responds to inquiries by helpdesk, specialists and others, as well as maintains governance documentation, implements major configuration changes, and supports infrastructure-related communications and training.
Key Responsibilities
The Service Engineer Senior Lead Consultant z/OS (also referred to as a z/OS System Programmer) is responsible for overall support and maintenance of the mainframe platform. This may involve installing, upgrading, and supporting IBM and ISV products that are hosted on the platform. The engineer is also responsible for participating in troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with software and may work directly with software vendors to resolve the problems.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Provide technical support for the mainframe infrastructure, z/OS operating system and ISV software products hosted on the mainframe platform.
- Perform research, analysis, planning, and engineering for hardware and software installations and upgrades under general direction.
- Participate in the execution of hardware and software technology implementations and upgrades.
- Investigate and resolve more complex incidents and issues generated from the Service Desk, application development teams, subsystem support teams and end users with guidance and assistance from senior team members.
- Fulfil routine or common service requests related to mainframe hardware, operating system or ISV software products
- Participate in the support, coordination and execution of scheduled maintenance activities including IPLs, DR tests, etc.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24x7 support; be available for project and maintenance activities outside normal working hours, as needed.

Hours of work:
- Mon Fri ; ASPL - 2:00 pm IST to 10:30 pm IST
- Must be willing and available for project and maintenance activities outside normal working hours, as needed
- Flexibility to meet business needs as required
Essential criteria:
- Must be available for rotation
- Sound Knowledge in SMP/E and installing, upgrading mainframe software products.
- Sound knowledge of System initialization and tuning
- Sound knowledge about Disaster Recovery
- Sound knowledge of JCL, TSO, JES2, ISPF, SDSF, SMS, HSM, RMM
- Sound knowledge of z/OS system commands
- Experience providing support within a multi-LPAR, multi-site sysplex environment.
- General knowledge of CICS, IMS, DB2, Networking, Storage and RACF
- Sound knowledge in the use of IBM Utilities, JCL, Batch Jobs, Procs, Parm Libs, Sys Logs
- Excellent Communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting/problem resolution, Vendor coordination and knowledge on ITIL framework
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience with Communications Server, DB2, IMS & CICS
- Experience with IBM's Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex (GDPS) software
- Experience with USS, OPC, OMEGAMON, RMF MON III
Travel requirements
- Availability to travel to U.S. if required
