To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for a Senior Lighting Designer (Environmental) to join our Lighting & Energy Solutions team.

You will have the opportunity to work on a range of environmental lighting projects delivering design and advisory services for different sectors, such as (but not limited to) architectural, planning, dark skies, local government, rail, highways, and aviation. Our growing capability supports the wider lighting and energy solutions team and closely collaborates with WSPs other disciplines both nationally and internationally giving you the opportunity to develop a broader understanding of light and lighting.

We actively contribute and lead on the development of industry best practice guidance and standards for good obtrusive and environmental light, both nationally and internationally with opportunities for all to contribute.

Responsibilities

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Lighting Designer (Environmental) to join our Lighting & Energy Solutions team based across India.

Within this role you will actively support the development of our environmental capability as well as supporting the Environmental and Net-Zero team in undertaking of obtrusive light assessments, environmental impact assessments, lighting designs and delivering quality lighting impact assessment survey reports. These projects may be either standalone or part of wider projects being delivered by us nationally and internationally.

You will also have the opportunity to aid the development of our Net-Zero lighting capability working with our clients to provide technical support and solutions to help provide advisory and design solutions that align with Circular Economy and low Embodied Carbon deliverables.

This role is for a Senior Lighting Design Engineer having 6 to 12 years of experience, to contribute to Lighting design for:

  • Highways including motorways, transport, infrastructure, city beautification and residential areas
  • Industrial facilities, Decorative lighting projects, Sports facilities, Car parks, Amenity areas
  • Site surveys/desktop study including (aligned with Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP) PLG04). :
  • To determine the existing infrastructure pre-design
  • Lighting assessments for environmental impact and obtrusive lighting assessments;
  • Technical delivery of environmental reports and strategy documents which will include working with other WSP teams such as ecology, planning and/or architectural lighting colleagues;
  • Developing your own and supporting junior staff expertise development in environmental lighting skills sets;
  • Reviewing client requirements, and developing technical bid proposals;
  • Assisting the Project Manager in carrying out project bids, reviews and delivering outcome reports;
  • Delivering technical lighting reports, strategy reports and environmental impact assessment reports;
  • Lighting designs using Lighting Reality, Dialux (or other) design software when needed;
  • Liaison with clients.
  • Provide lighting design and Ensure that all designs and drawings are checked to the required standards and quality.
  • Ensure clear understanding of project scope and deliverables to be produced. Ensure projects are completed on time and meet prescribed project deadlines as assigned.
  • Provide regular work status updates, including project progress, risks, Issues, concerns, or changes to the line manager/project manager. Responds to/tracks LM complaints/concerns.
  • Work in coordination with all other design team member. Coordinate with and direct CAD Technicians concerning requirements and timelines. Manage multiple projects in clear concise/coordinated manner.
  • Support the companies approach to sustainability.

Qualifications


At least BEng (Electrical Engineering /Electronics Engineering / Electronics and Telecom Engineering) with a minimum of 6 to 12 years of experience.

BGV:

  • Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (BGV) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India.
