Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned legal professional with 8-10 years of experience to lead and strengthen our Legal & Compliance function. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in corporate, media, and regulatory law, along with strong leadership capabilities to manage complex legal matters, mitigate risks, and ensure organizational compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end legal strategy, ensuring compliance with corporate, media, and regulatory laws.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements including commercial contracts, content licensing, distribution agreements, vendor contracts, and strategic partnerships.
- Manage litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution, coordinating with external counsel and representing the organization's interests.
- Oversee responses to legal notices, regulatory inquiries, and statutory authorities.
- Provide legal advisory to senior management on business decisions, risk mitigation, and compliance frameworks.
- Ensure adherence to applicable laws including Companies Act, IPR laws, labour laws, and media regulations.
- Lead policy development and implementation (Code of Conduct, POSH, employment policies, SOPs, etc.).
- Drive legal due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, investments, and business restructuring.
- Maintain and supervise contract management systems, litigation trackers, and legal documentation.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, government bodies, and industry stakeholders.
- Mentor and manage junior legal team members, fostering a high-performance legal function.
Candidate Profile
- Educational Qualification: LL.B. / LL.M. from a recognized university (mandatory).
- Experience: 8-10 years of relevant experience in corporate legal roles, preferably in media, broadcast, or related industries.
- Additional Qualification:
- CS qualification will be an added advantage.
- Strong expertise in contract law, corporate law, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven experience in handling litigation, arbitration, and high-value commercial negotiations.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance legal risks and commercial objectives.
- High level of integrity, leadership, and decision-making capability.
- Proficiency in legal research tools (SCC, Manupatra) and MS Office; familiarity with MCA and compliance systems is preferred.
