Role Overview
The Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products meet the required quality, performance, reliability, and safety standards. The role involves analyzing requirements, creating test strategies and procedures, executing tests, identifying defects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Analysis
- Review and analyze system, software, and hardware requirements.
- Ensure requirements are clear, testable, and aligned with project objectives.
- Participate in requirement reviews and identify potential gaps or inconsistencies.
- Test Planning & Strategy
- Develop Verification & Validation plans in alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
- Identify test scope, test methodologies, tools, and required resources.
- Prepare traceability matrices linking requirements to test cases.
- Test Case Development
- Create detailed test cases, test scripts, and test procedures for functional, performance, and system-level testing.
- Ensure test documentation complies with industry standards and internal processes.
- Test Execution
- Perform manual and automated testing based on project needs.
- Conduct integration, system, regression, and acceptance tests.
- Validate system behavior under normal, boundary, and error conditions.
- Defect Management
- Identify, document, and track defects using standard defect-tracking tools.
- Collaborate with development and design teams to isolate root causes.
- Re-test and verify fixes and close defects based on the validation process.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure adherence to relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO, CENELEC, IEC, DO178C, Automotive SPICE based on domain).
- Participate in internal audits and support external certification activities.
- Maintain complete and accurate V&V documentation.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with project managers, design engineers, software developers, and quality teams.
- Provide regular status updates, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Support customer reviews, acceptance tests, and field validation activities when required.

Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of verification and validation methodologies.
- Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM, Polarion).
- Knowledge of automation tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Selenium, LabVIEW based on domain).
- Familiarity with system engineering life cycle processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and requirements.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple tasks.
- Detail-oriented with a strong quality mindset.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Computer Science, or related field).
- 1015 years of experience in Verification & Validation (range adjustable depending on level).
- Experience in [domain] will be an added advantage.
- Certification in testing (e.g., ISTQB) is desirable.
