About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud FinOps Consultant to drive IT and cloud cost efficiency across infrastructure, applications, and vendor ecosystems. This role focuses on optimizing IT spend, improving cost visibility, and aligning technology investments with business objectives.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of cloud financial management, strategic thinking, and analytical expertise, enabling organizations to maximize value from their IT and cloud investments while maintaining performance and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
IT & Cloud Cost Optimization
- Analyze IT and cloud spend across infrastructure, applications, and services to identify cost optimization opportunities
- Leverage cloud usage data and financial metrics to uncover inefficiencies and recommend actionable improvements
- Implement cost optimization strategies without compromising system performance or reliability
FinOps Strategy & Governance
- Drive adoption of FinOps best practices, including cost visibility, allocation, and accountability models
- Establish and monitor cost optimization KPIs, budgets, and governance frameworks
- Collaborate with engineering, finance, and leadership teams to align cost strategies with business goals
Vendor Management & Cost Reduction
- Perform vendor benchmarking to evaluate pricing, performance, and value
- Identify opportunities for vendor consolidation and contract optimization
- Lead negotiations and implement strategies to ensure cost-effective vendor partnerships
Business Case Development & Savings Roadmap
- Build robust business cases including ROI, TCO, and cost-benefit analysis
- Develop and execute cost optimization roadmaps with clear timelines and measurable outcomes
- Track and report realized savings and financial impact to stakeholders
Required Skills
FinOps & Cloud Cost Management
- Strong expertise in FinOps principles and cloud cost optimization
- Hands-on experience managing cloud costs across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Familiarity with cost management tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, or similar platforms
BFSI IT Landscape Understanding
- Good understanding of Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) IT environments
- Awareness of compliance, regulatory requirements, and operational challenges within BFSI
Analytical & Financial Skills
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret large datasets
- Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, ROI, and TCO modeling
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience managing large-scale IT or cloud cost optimization programs
- Exposure to multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments
- Strong vendor management and contract negotiation experience
- Knowledge of FinOps frameworks and cost allocation practices (e.g., tagging, showback/chargeback)
