What You'll Do:

This position is responsible for developing new technologies in the field of Vehicle Electrification for Eaton's Mobility business group. As a member of this new technology development/ R&D team, you will lead power electronics architecture/design of Inverter (HV DC-AC) and HV/LV DCDC converters. This involves working with research and development teams across multiple regions (U.S., Europe and Asia) and divisions within Mobility Group, Global Innovation Centers, and Eaton Research Labs (ERL). Incumbent will be responsible for demonstrating Proof of concept design starting from establishing requirements through Secondary research/ benchmarking/ customer inputs, conceptualizing unique/ differentiated solutions that outperform competitor products in performance, cost and reliability and carry out verification and validation(V&V).

  • The individual will be responsible for developing high power density product designs involving electrical / power electronics hardware design end-to-end and compose system level requirements and cascade to subsystems, Hardware and Software.
  • Optimize design for energy efficiency and various performance strategies using physical modeling or simulation tools and providing technical expertise and guidance to team members and mentoring new engineers.
  • Champions innovative solutions for High power LV/ HV inverter/DC-DC Converter, Switch selection, HV/LV gate driver and HV/LV protection. Develops Requirements, Architecture, Integration, Verification and validation plans for electric Mobility LV/ HV DC-DC or DC-AC Power Conversion Products at system level
  • Leads project level deliverables in High-Speed Communication Circuits, and Digital and Analog circuits with 16/32/64-bit microcontroller-based designs, I/O Interface Circuits and Control Hardware.
  • Develop products to comply performance, functional safety and cost requirements.
  • Writes and maintains product specifications and functional specifications of design solutions for product to meet performance, functional safety and reliability.
  • Develop engineering tools and continuously improves operational efficiency.
  • Generate a pipeline of high quality ideas/ solutions within a short time frame that outperforms the competition on performance, packaging, reliability and cost.

A successful candidate will need knowledge and have prior experience of Electric Vehicle product development process at system and subsystem levels.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • BTech/BE with 7 to 9 years of experience
  • ME/MTech in Power Electronics & Drives with 4 to 6 years
  • PhD with not more than 2-3 years of experience
  • Bachelor's in electrical/ Electronic with 7+ years of industry experience or Master's in Power Electronics & drives with 4+ years of industry experience and proven track record in engineering research / analysis / product design in HV/LV DC-AC inverter, DC-DC Converter Power electronics.

Skills:


  • Experience in Electric Vehicle New Product Development.
  • Experience in hardware system design including end to end product development involving analog & digital circuit design with 16/32/64-bit microcontroller-based designs, development, verification & validation, qualification & certification testing.
  • Exposure / Hands on experience on Digital Communication protocols like CAN, LIN, RS232, SPI, I2C etc.
  • Ability to decompose system level Requirements to sub-system level, develop DFMEA, identify verification methods for HV/LV DC-AC inverter, DC-DC Converter, Solid state PDUs and plan interface level requirements between Hardware and Software.
  • Experience in following tools - MATLAB/Simulink, LTSPICE
  • Excellent mastery of FMEA method for the design of new products
  • Experience in ISO 26262 functional safety processes.
  • Preferred / Additional specialized knowledge
