Role Overview
We're seeking a Senior Embedded Hardware Design Engineer to lead the design of next-generation control and measurement electronicsfrom concept and architecture to validation and production. The role is hardware-first with scope to own selective firmware modules based on your skills. You'll work closely with firmware, validation, manufacturing, and QA teams to deliver robust, field-ready products.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and review analog, digital, and power-supply circuits for embedded systems.
- Own schematic capture and PCB layout (review/guide layout engineers); drive DFM/DFT and release to manufacturing.
- Component selection, validation, and lifecycle management (alternates, obsolescence planning, supply risk).
- Build & bring-up prototypes; perform HW validation and characterization (bench + environmental).
- Debug and root-cause analysis for proto/field issues; drive corrective actions and reliability improvements.
- Collaborate with firmware to ensure clean HW/SW interfaces (boot, power sequencing, clocks, reset, IO protection).
- Ensure compliance to electrical, safety, and EMC/EMI requirements; coordinate pre-compliance and certification testing.
- Create and maintain design documentation: requirements, block diagrams, schematics, BoMs, test plans/reports, ER/ECNs.
- Support NPI through pilot builds, test fixture inputs, and manufacturing handover.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years hands-on embedded hardware design and testing.
- Strong mixed-signal design fundamentals (sensor front-ends, filters, op-amps, ADC/DAC interfacing).
- Proficiency with schematic & PCB tools (Altium/KiCad/Eagle) and version/BOM control.
- Power design: DC/DC converters (buck/boost/flyback), LDOs, power sequencing, battery/charging basics.
- Practical experience with EMC/EMI & surge/ESD/EFT mitigation (TVS, snubbers, common-mode chokes, grounding, creepage/clearance).
- Confidence with lab equipment: oscilloscope, DMM, PSU, electronic load, logic analyzer, etc.
- Working knowledge of Embedded C to collaborate with firmware (bootloaders, drivers, bring-up).
- Strong documentation, ownership, and cross-functional communication.
Nice to Have (Preferred)
- Domain experience in power/energy, genset controllers, protection relays, or industrial/telecom automation.
- Interfaces: RS-485/Modbus, CAN, Ethernet/PHY, IC/SPI, UART, isolated comms.
- High-accuracy measurement: CT/PT interfacing, shunts, isolation amps, precision references, calibration.
- Reliability & safety: DFMEA, HALT/HASS basics; familiarity with IEC/IS standards relevant to power & protection.
- Experience taking designs through pre-compliance for IEC 61000-4-2/-4/-5, surge and ESD protection strategies.
- Leadership: mentoring juniors, conducting design reviews.
Why Join Us
- Build mission-critical hardware that powers real infrastructure.
- End-to-end exposure: in-house R&D + manufacturingfast feedback loops and real-world impact.
- Collaborative team with ownership, autonomy, and growth opportunities.
