As the Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking, you will lead multiple technical areas and oversee the activities of various departments. You will collaborate across technical domains, applying your expertise cross-functionally to promote the adoption and implementation of technical methods within diverse teams. Your role is crucial in helping the firm stay at the forefront of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements.

Job responsibilities

  • Leads multiple technology and process implementations across departments to achieve firmwide technology objectives
  • Directly manages multiple areas with strategic transactional focus
  • Provides leadership and high-level direction to teams while frequently overseeing employee populations across multiple platforms, divisions, and lines of business
  • Acts as the primary interface with senior leaders, stakeholders, and executives, driving consensus across competing objectives
  • Manages multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations
  • Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Champions the firm's culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ year of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise and more broadly across the organization
  • Experience in managing large teams and organizations, with a track record of successful leadership in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Experience developing and leading large or cross-functional teams of technologists
  • Demonstrated prior experience influencing across highly matrixed, complex organizations and delivering value at scale
  • Experience leading complex projects supporting system design, testing, and operational stability
  • Deep expertise building and operating large scale high performance transactional environments with distributed systems and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
  • Deep expertise with enterprise design patterns and industry best practices with experience using modern technology (e.g., Java, Cassandra, Kafka) and design patterns (e.g., micro services, APIs)
  • Experience with building, leading and mentoring technology teams and next level leaders within the organization.
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Extensive practical cloud native experience
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present to and communicate effectively with key stakeholders across product, technology, data and design. Strong organizational and management skills

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks
  • Experience in Customer Identity & Authentication Domain
  • AWS Certification.
  • SRE mindset Culture/Approaches: To run better production systems by creating engineering solutions to operational problems.
  • Ability to program (structured and OO) with one or more high level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and JavaScript
  • Infrastructure budgeting and finances. Infrastructure cost optimization
