Senior DevOps Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a pragmatic and skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our platform & infrastructure team supporting Rakuten's Entertainment products and services.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between development and operations, ensuring our systems are scalable, secure, and highly available. You will play a key role in shaping our cloud infrastructure, owning CI/CD pipelines, and driving the adoption of AI-powered DevOps practices to build resilient, future-ready systems.

Key Responsibilities

Multi-Cloud Infrastructure

• Architect, deploy, and manage scalable infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and security across environments

CI/CD & Automation

• Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for high-velocity, reliable deployments
• Implement automated quality, security, and compliance checks

Kubernetes & Containerization

• Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters in production environments
• Configure service mesh and troubleshoot complex containerized workloads

Reliability & Performance

• Lead infrastructure planning and capacity management
• Ensure systems perform reliably under high traffic and scale dynamically

Cost Optimization (FinOps)

• Drive cost efficiency initiatives using cloud-native tools and FinOps practices
• Analyze usage trends and reduce waste without impacting performance

DevOps Strategy

• Define and execute scalable DevOps strategies aligned with business and engineering goals

AI-Driven DevOps (AIDLC Focus)

• Leverage AI/LLM tools to automate Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), documentation, and workflows
• Build AI-enabled DevOps systems such as:
• Intelligent incident response automation
• Log anomaly detection
• Predictive scaling and monitoring
• Perform advanced troubleshooting using AI-assisted diagnostics
• Ensure strong human-in-the-loop governance for all AI-driven infrastructure changes

What We're Looking For

Experience & Expertise

• 6–10 years of experience in DevOps / SRE / Infrastructure Engineering
• Strong hands-on experience in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes and container orchestration
• Proven experience building and scaling CI/CD pipelines

Technical & Problem-Solving Skills

• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills in distributed systems
• Experience managing production systems at scale

Collaboration & Communication

• Experience working with global, cross-functional teams
• Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field

Nice to Have

• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools / LLM integrations
• Experience with service mesh architectures
• Familiarity with observability tools (monitoring, logging, tracing)
