Job Title: Design Engineer / Sr. Design Engineer Electrical (Motor Design)

Role Summary

Design and validate custom frameless torque motors for highprecision Direct Drive Rotary Tables used in CNC machines and automation systems. Responsibilities span requirement analysis, electromagnetic & thermal design, FEA simulations, prototyping, and testing to meet torque, speed, thermal, and reliability targets.

Key Responsibilities

Motor Architecture & Requirements

Translate system needs into motor specifications (torque, speed, duty cycle, thermal limits, electrical constraints).

Define slot/pole combinations, windings, magnets, stack design, and backEMF characteristics.

Electromagnetic & Thermal Design

Perform EM and thermal FEA using Maxwell, JMAG, MotorCAD, RMxprt.

Optimize torque density, efficiency, Kt/Ke, losses, cogging, and torque ripple.

Check demagnetization risks and rotor mechanical integrity.

Structural & Thermal Engineering

Analyze rotor sleeve stress, magnet retention, burst speed, vibration, and balancing.

Develop cooling models for conduction, air, or liquid systems.

Prototyping & Industrialization

Prepare drawings, winding diagrams, BOMs, and specifications.

Work with suppliers on lamination, winding, magnetization, assembly, and QA.

Testing & Validation

Validate Kt/Ke, R/L, torque ripple, efficiency, backEMF, thermal performance, and NVH.

Support servo drive integration and encoder selection.

CrossFunctional Collaboration

Coordinate with mechanical, electronics, sourcing, manufacturing, and service teams.

Drive cost reduction, manufacturability, and reliability improvements.

MustHave Qualifications

B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Power Electronics, or Mechatronics.

410 years experience in PM motor design, ideally frameless torque motors/PMSM.

Strong EM FEA, thermal modeling, magnetic materials, and winding design skills.

Ability to correlate simulation and realworld test results.
