Position Overview:
This position is responsible for execution of standard tasks that fall under the database administration domain.
Responsibilities:
- Acquire workable knowledge of Snowflake, DataOps.live/dbt, MongoDB, and Qlik within 12 months of hire, each 3-month period dedicated to learning one of the technologies.
- Specialize in at least one of the above technologies.
- Perform standard database administration tasks, such as database monitoring, installation, configuration and patching, backups and recovery, high availability configuration, database refresh, data replication, code reviews, and SQL tuning.
- Diagnose and resolve database or data replication problems.
- Provide support to application developers and collaborate with other teams.
- Participate in project planning and technical design.
- Mentor junior team members on regular basis.
- Participate in Oracle 24x7 on-call rotation after 3 months.
- Participate in MongoDB and QLIK replication on-call rotation after 6 months.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience
- Undergraduate degree and 8+ years of experience with Oracle relational database platform.
- Advanced knowledge of relational database management system and principles, and database security.
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle Internals.
- Advanced proficiency with SQL and SQL tuning.
- Advanced experience with standard Oracle database administration tasks.
- Solid knowledge of Linux and shell scripting.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Confirmed ability to acquire knowledge of new database technologies while on the job.
- Confirmed ability to execute tasks independently, to self-initiate work, and to engage with work deeply.
- Confirmed ability to pay meticulous attention to details.
- Confirmed ability to meet goals and deadlines.
- Confirmed ability to quickly diagnose issues and come up with solutions and/or workarounds.
