Job Description: Data Scientist/Prompt Engineer -GenAI (m/f/x)

Job Summary:

You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Data & Analytics and our Business Intelligence function and hereby actively contribute to the success of the digital transformation at ZEISS. In this challenging function, you will help our business units to identify and develop strategic data-driven use case opportunities in the area of Predictive Analytics and GenAI. As a Senior Data Scientist, you'll be a key contributor to our digital transformation journey.

You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and implement strategic, data-driven solutions that support predictive analytics, especially in the domain of forecasting, and GenAI data products.

Responsibilities:

• Experience:
  • Overall experience of 5 years and minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering, AI development, or a related field.
• Programming:
  • Proficiency in Python, with experience in libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and PyTorch/TensorFlow.
• GenAI Expertise:
  • Hands-on experience with Azure OpenAI services and non-OpenAI LLMs.
  • Familiarity with LangChain, RAG applications, MCPs and prompt engineering techniques.
  • The ability to navigate technology hype, identify and prioritize game-changing applications for our group and execute their development in agile squads
  • A deep understanding of foundational and large language models and the vision and hands-on mindset to make your ideas come to life in ZEISS solutions
  • Experience with best practices in model development and deployment (Azure Machine Learning Service/ MLflow)
• Data Engineering:
  • Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and workflow orchestration tools
  • Experience with connecting to enterprise systems like SAP, cloud databases, and APIs.
• Cloud Platforms:
  • Proficiency in Azure services (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Azure Data Factory, Azure Blob Storage).
  • Familiarity with other cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) is a plus.
• Databases:
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cosmos DB).
• Problem-Solving:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex systems.
• Communication:
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
