I. Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to be part of a high-performing team responsible for delivering enterprise-scale data platform capabilities. The role focuses on building, optimizing, and scaling data solutions using Microsoft Azure PaaS services, covering ETL/ELT, storage, processing, and presentation layers. This is a highly visible role that will help define technical strategy and drive the adoption of a next-generation data platform in collaboration with enterprise architecture and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in data engineering, modeling, analytics, and cloud-native development.
II. Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement data platform solutions using Azure PaaS services such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Event Hubs, Service Bus, Azure SQL, and Azure Storage.
- Implement and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration patterns.
- Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support analytics, reporting, and operational use cases.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional technical discussions to drive architecture decisions and implementation strategies.
- Provide technical implementation plans for deploying Azure infrastructure using modern CI/CD and DevOps best practices.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management to plan, prioritize, and deliver roadmap features.
- Evangelize and support the adoption of DevOps practices across data platform teams.
- Perform code reviews, ensure data engineering best practices, and mentor junior engineers.
- Partner with architecture, security, and business teams to ensure solutions meet technical, security, and compliance requirements.
- Contribute to the organization's data transformation strategy, engaging with senior IT and business stakeholders.
III. Years of Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering and data platform development.
- 5+ years of experience with SQL and/or NoSQL data technologies.
- 5+ years of experience with cloud data platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure PaaS services.
- 5+ years of experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT solutions.
- 3+ years of experience working with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- 3+ years of experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
IV. Educational Qualification & Certifications (Optional):
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Master's degree in Software Engineering or Data Engineering preferred.
- Microsoft Azure certifications (Data Engineer / Azure Fundamentals) are a plus.
V. Skill Set Required:
Must have:
- Strong experience with Azure Data Services (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure SQL, Azure Storage).
- Expertise in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical).
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and patterns.
- Proficiency in SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using Azure DevOps.
- Strong understanding of data performance optimization and analytics execution.
- Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Nice to have:
- Software engineering experience focused on data management (OLAP and OLTP systems).
- Experience integrating data from enterprise systems such as SAP, Workday, SugarCRM, or similar.
- Exposure to big data technologies (Kafka, Hadoop, NoSQL platforms).
- Experience with Python, R, or other statistical programming languages.
- Experience with database tuning and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and tools.
- Exposure to healthcare, logistics, or IoT data platforms.
