Job Description

Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Power BI professional with strong hands-on expertise in Power BI Service administration and content delivery, including Dataflows, Apps, and Deployment Pipelines, with SQL as a core skill. The role will own end-to-end dashboard/report delivery, semantic modeling, governed deployments across Dev/Test/Prod, and performance/security best practices. Should be able to lead a team of analyst and provide estimates for projects.

Your role

  • Lead end-to-end development of Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models, partnering with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable BI assets.
  • Build and optimize data models (star/snowflake), DAX measures, and Power Query transformations to support business KPIs and analytics use cases.
  • Develop and manage Power BI Dataflows for reusable, governed data preparation and shared transformations across reports/datasets.

  • Manage Power BI Service assets including workspaces, apps, datasets/semantic models, refresh schedules, and access controls.
  • Ensure a smooth consumer experience via governed distribution through Power BI Apps.
  • Implement security best practices (e.g., RLS, least privilege access, controlled sharing patterns).
  • Support platform governance needs.

  • Implement and operate Power BI Deployment Pipelines using structured stages such as Development / Test / Production, enabling controlled promotion and minimizing production risk.
  • Configure deployment rules and environment-specific parameters (data source rules, parameter mappings) to support consistent deployments across environments.
  • Collaborate with platform/COE teams on lifecycle management and standardized deployment practices aligned to Power BI content lifecycle guidance.

  • Write and optimize SQL (T-SQL preferred) for data extraction, transformations, performance tuning, and validation.
  • Partner with data engineering teams as needed.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data refresh, report performance, and data quality.
  • Implement monitoring and operational playbooks.
  • Maintain documentation for datasets/models, measures, refresh logic, and deployment processes to support audits and smooth handovers.
  • Mentor junior developers and enforce best practices across modeling, DAX, and governed release management.

About you

  • Power Apps (Canvas/Model-driven) to build lightweight business apps integrated with BI workflows.
  • Power Automate (Cloud flows/Approvals) for alerting, workflow automation, and operational processes around reporting/data.

  • Hands-on exposure to data science or advanced analytics projects.
  • Programming with Python (data prep, analysis, ML support, automation).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Knowledge of modern BI lifecycle practices and CI/CD concepts supporting governed releases.

  • Bachelor's / Master's in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) preferred.
  • Fabric/Engineering certifications are a plus (role-dependent).
