About the Role

As a Senior Cloud Architect, you'll be at the forefront of designing and implementing innovative cloud-based solutions, primarily utilizing Azure Cloud and other platforms like Alibaba Cloud. You'll provide technical leadership, drive architectural improvements, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, robust cloud services that support Swiss Re's mission of making the world more resilient.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture Design & Optimization: Drive the design and evolution of scalable, efficient cloud architectures that simplify operations and reduce complexity

• Service Quality & Reliability: Define service quality measures and ensure high reliability through self-healing mechanisms that minimize manual intervention

• Documentation & System Understanding: Develop in-depth knowledge of the L&H product ecosystem and create clear architectural documents to guide product development

• Team Leadership & Culture Building: Foster a high-performance culture, champion Swiss Re's core values, and mentor teams in delivering excellence

• Technical Challenge Mitigation: Proactively identify and address technical challenges early in the development process

• Portfolio Representation: Confidently represent the product portfolio to internal stakeholders and strategic partners

• Code Quality Assurance: Write technical specifications and ensure architectural integrity through thorough code reviews

• Innovation & Research: Lead R&D activities, proof of concepts, and exploration of new technologies to meet evolving business needs

• Security Implementation: Design and implement Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) with MFA, Conditional Access policies, and Privileged Identity Management

• Cloud Infrastructure Design: Provide technical leadership in designing cloud-native infrastructure on Azure Cloud, including AKS, Networking, CDN, WAF, Load Balancer, Monitoring, and FinOps

• Cross-Functional Leadership: Mentor teams on solving complex business problems using cloud capabilities

You have a passion for designing elegant, scalable solutions and can effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences. You're a natural mentor who enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others grow their cloud expertise.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

• 5+ years of relevant experience in Cloud Applications with 4+ years in an architectural role, including proven experience with Azure DevOps and Azure-based infrastructure

• Experience designing and implementing Zero Trust applications and architectures

• Strong background in technical analysis using tools like Visio or Enterprise Architect (EA) for architecture modeling and design

• Proven experience contributing to system design of enterprise systems, with focus on design principles, scalability, and reliability

• Expertise in designing and developing enterprise web applications using Java, Spring MVC, and distributed databases

• Deep understanding of distributed computing principles and experience with enterprise-wide systems

• Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS products on cloud platforms, especially for Azure Cloud

• Proficiency in developing on Azure using Terraform for infrastructure-as-code with hands-on experience in Azure DevOps and Azure Data Factory

• Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills to work with diverse teams and stakeholders

These are additional nice to haves:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

• Knowledge in FinOps (Financial Operations) to optimize cloud costs and resources effectively

• Experience with SecOps for ensuring security best practices in cloud environments

• Azure certifications (e.g., Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Solutions Architect)

• Knowledge of microservices architecture and managing related deployment pipelines

• Experience with event-driven architectures for scalable and resilient system design

• Familiarity with authentication protocols and tools like SAML, OpenID, and OAuth
