What we need:
We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer who can effectively connect design concepts with on-site execution. This role will focus on delivering campus-level infrastructure and high-specification building works, ensuring all construction activities meet global Data Center standards for quality, safety, and performance. The position involves close coordination with design and site teams and reports directly to the Design Manager – Civil.
This role will be site-based out of Airoli, Mumbai.
Key Responsibilities
1. Campus-Level Infrastructure Development
- Site Infrastructure: Lead the delivery of campus-level civil works, including permanent roads, heavy-duty drainage networks (stormwater/sewage), and underground utility duct banks for fiber and power.
- Grading & External Works: Oversee site leveling, retaining wall construction (with SBS waterproofing), and the coordination of external lighting foundations and DG yard development.
2. Design Coordination & Technical Alignment
- Campus Infrastructure Liaison: Coordinate the design and routing of campus-wide utility networks, ensuring no clashes between underground civil services (duct banks, drainage, sumps) and external MEP or security infrastructure.
- Specification Reconciliation: Review BOQs and drawings to ensure meeting mandates are met—specifically the transition from traditional masonry to ALC Wall Panels for all internal shafts.
- Design Liaison: Resolve site-based RFIs regarding structural layouts, door labeling, and specialized architectural finishes (e.g., gypsum skimcoats vs. whitewash).
- Assumption Management: Proactively validate site-specific assumptions to minimize variations in the 1-C&S bill of quantities.
3. Building Construction & Precision Engineering
- RCC & PEB Execution: Lead the construction of main Data Center structures involving RCC (Flat Slab, PT Slab) and Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB) for utility blocks or DG sheds.
- Modern Formwork Systems: Implement and manage advanced formwork technologies (e.g., Aluform, System Formwork, or Doka) to ensure high-quality concrete finishes, improved cycle times, and structural precision.
- High-Tolerance Flooring: Supervise the casting of 75mm structural screeds to meet FM2 (Floor Flatness) standards using the Ashford Formula, critical for IT rack deployment.
- Advanced Waterproofing: Oversee the installation of HDPE membranes under rafts and SBS systems for vertical surfaces to ensure a 100% water-tight environment.
4. Commercial & Quality Control
- Quantity Verification: Cross-check site progress against the measurement sheets and the 1-C&S main bill.
- Safety & Compliance: Champion site safety and quality inspections, ensuring all works comply with statutory building codes and Digital Edge global standards.
- Project Reporting: Provide weekly technical updates on progress, budget risks, and material lead times for critical items like rolling shutters and industrial louversetc.
Actively champion and implement the organization's policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.
The Successful Candidate
- Education: Graduate in Civil Engineering.
- Experience: 10–12 years in civil construction, with a focus on Data Center campuses or large-scale industrial projects.
- Technical Expertise: * Proven track record in RCC and PEB building construction.
- Hands-on experience with modern formwork systems (Aluform/System Formwork).
- Strong understanding of campus utility coordination and infrastructure security.
- Attributes: A delivery-focused leader with an ownership mindset and the ability to coordinate across design, procurement, and site safety teams.
