Role Overview:
As the Category Lead - Fruits and Vegetables, you will be the driving force behind the strategic development and execution of Fruits and Vegetables category for a leading B2B retail platform company in Bengaluru. You will be responsible for managing the entire category lifecycle, from sourcing and procurement to sales and P&L management. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including sourcing, supply chain, marketing, and sales to ensure optimal category performance and customer satisfaction. Your work will directly impact our ability to provide high-quality, fresh produce to our customers, driving revenue growth and enhancing our market position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies to achieve sales, profitability, and market share targets for the Fruits and Vegetables category.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management, to ensure competitive pricing and consistent supply of high-quality produce.
- Oversee the supply chain operations for the Fruits and Vegetables category, optimizing logistics, inventory management, and distribution to minimize waste and maximize freshness.
- Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for category growth and innovation.
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop and execute effective promotional campaigns and merchandising strategies to drive sales and increase customer engagement.
- Monitor and manage the P&L for the Fruits and Vegetables category, identifying areas for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders to ensure a reliable and sustainable supply chain.
- Lead and mentor a team of category managers and specialists, providing guidance and support to achieve individual and team goals.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful category management strategies that drive revenue growth and profitability.
- Proven expertise in procurement and supply chain management, including vendor negotiation, contract management, and logistics optimization.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of the Fruits and Vegetables market, including sourcing, quality standards, and consumer preferences.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, or a related field; MBA preferred.
