Summary Of The Position
The role is responsible for preparing detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models for Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) and related power infrastructure projects. The position supports engineering, routing, and construction activities by delivering accurate drawings, ensuring compliance with standards, and maintaining high-quality documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Accountabilities
Drawing & Modelling
- Prepare 2D and 3D drawings for OHTL towers and associated components.
- Develop General Arrangement (GA) drawings for towers, foundations, and line layouts.
- Create Erection / Assembly drawings for construction and site execution.
- Produce shop drawings and piece small detail drawings for fabrication.
Route & Site Planning
- Prepare route maps, access maps, and site clearance layouts.
- Develop wire clearance diagrams in line with statutory and project requirements.
- Prepare underground cable route layout drawings where applicable Engineering & Construction Support
- Develop level setting drawings for tower spotting and foundation setting.
- Prepare foundation drawings based on geotechnical and design inputs.
- Create insulator fitting drawings for various voltage levels and configurations.
Quantity & Documentation
- Generate material lists, bolt lists, and fabrication schedules.
- Prepare and update as-built drawings reflecting actual site conditions and modifications.
Coordination & Standards
- Coordinate with engineering, survey, and site teams to ensure drawing accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and utility standards.
- Maintain revision control, documentation accuracy, and CAD/BIM standards.
Skills and Experience | Essential
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Strong experience in preparing 2D/3D drawings for power or infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of OHTL components, tower structures, and foundation systems.
- Experience in preparing GA, erection, and shop drawings.
- Knowledge of drawing standards, codes, and documentation practices.
- Ability to generate material take-offs and fabrication details.
- Strong coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams.
Skills and Experience | Desirable
- Familiarity with Civil 3D and BIM modelling tools.
- Experience in Tekla Structures / BOCAD / AutoCAD for steel detailing.
- Exposure to overhead transmission line or substation projects.
- Understanding of underground cable routing and layouts.
- Experience working in a BIM environment and collaborative workflows.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in drafting.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
