Job Description

Build India's first great hardware brand.

Native is the hardware division of Urban Company. Urban Company is the world's largest home services platform, serving India, UAE, and Singapore. We deliver an unparalleled range of services including beauty services & treatments, appliance repairs, massages, home repairs, and cleaning.

At Native, we design and build high-performance products for Indian homes. From scratch, and in-house by sweating the details in-and-out.

In just over a year, we've redefined the RO purifiers:

  • Filters that last 2 years (a first in India)
  • Zero service calls for 24 months
  • Unmatched design, fit, and finish

We also re-invented what a truly smart door lock should be like:

  • Camera that lets you see who's at the door before you open (from anywhere)
  • Truly remote unlock that works from anywhere
  • Exceptional, trend-setting design

At Urban Company and Native, we understand how to build services and products that people love and feel magical! Native is not just another hardware company. Native is your opportunity to build a new kind of brand for India that's obsessed with customer delight.

What you'll do

We are looking for a Senior Manager to own key business problem statements for Native's product line-up. This role sits at the intersection of business, operations, and product development. You will work in close collaboration with the NPD team to translate product and engineering insights into scalable business processes, drive operational excellence across the value chain, and convert data into clear, actionable decisions.

You will be responsible for structuring problems, building and improving processes, managing critical vendor partnerships, and ensuring that our products are not just well-designed but also operationally robust and commercially viable.

  • Own end-to-end business problem statements from problem definition to execution and impact tracking.
  • Partner closely with the NPD team to translate product roadmaps, technical constraints, and field feedback into business strategies, SOPs, and measurable targets.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve processes across procurement, manufacturing, quality, logistics, and after-sales to drive operational excellence (cost, quality, timelines, and reliability).
  • Lead vendor negotiations for key categories to achieve optimal commercials, service levels, and risk diversification.
  • Build and maintain robust vendor performance metrics (cost, quality, delivery, responsiveness) and drive structured reviews and improvement plans.
  • Set up and own dashboards, and review cadences to track business KPIs; ensure high-quality data hygiene and accurate reporting.
  • Analyse internal and external data (cost breakdowns, reliability metrics, field failures, service data, procurement data, and market benchmarks) to generate actionable insights and prioritize initiatives.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (NPD, Finance, Supply Chain, Category, Service Operations) to convert insights into projects and success metrics.
  • Drive structured problem solving (e.g., root cause analysis, hypothesis-driven analysis, experimentation) for recurring business and operational issues.

We are looking for

Strong first-principles problem solving and structured thinking; ability to break down ambiguous problems into clear workstreams and drive them to closure.

Demonstrated experience in driving operational excellence process design, improvement, and scaling.

Hands-on experience in vendor management and commercial negotiations, with a track record of unlocking value through contracts, terms, and relationships.

High comfort with data: ability to work on large datasets, build simple models, define metrics, and derive insights using tools like Excel/Sheets, SQL, or BI tools.

Strong business acumen with the ability to balance cost, quality, customer experience, and speed.

Solid technical understanding of hardware products, components, and manufacturing processes (e.g., plastic parts, sheet metal, tooling, assembly, testing); ability to engage meaningfully with engineers and vendors on technical topics and trade-offs.

Ability to read and interpret technical documentation (e.g., BOMs, drawings, test reports, reliability data) and convert them into business, cost, and risk implications.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and drive alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Bias for action and ownership mindset - willing to go deep into details while keeping sight of the bigger picture.

Why join us

Urban Company is a house-hold name when it comes to exceptional quality of services at home. Native products, since we launched in September 2023, are already the top-selling water purifiers on major e-commerce platforms. We take pride in building services and products that are exceptional in quality.

If you ever wondered what it was like to work at the top 3 hardware companies in the world when they were just fifty people, imagine building products for India that sparked a movement. That's the kind of opportunity we're offering you at Native by Urban Company.

You will directly shape how Native by Urban Company builds and scales hardware products in India. You will get to work closely with a deep-tech NPD team while owning critical business and operational outcomes end-to-end.
