The Opportunity
The Business Intelligence Analyst handles meeting customers reporting, and analytics needs through the deployment and support of standard and custom solutions. The role requires gathering customers business requirements and designing solutions based on an understanding of the customers data and reporting solutions used to build the outputs.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate capabilities of customer support and consulting skills, such as problem solving, influencing, and occasionally delivering presentations to mainly internal but also potential customer audiences
- Elicit requirements from internal and external stakeholders using various methods, such as interviews, document analysis, and product analysis, and create functional specifications.
- Support Q&A from other members of the development team on the specification they have created.
- Directs the functional aspect of the day-to-day sprint team work
- Perform acceptance testing on features they have designed, to ensure the features deliver the expected business value/result
- Maintain high level knowledge of the entire application, and be an expert resource on the functional behavior of at least one module/area of the system.
- Serve to provide usability perspective and direction to the development team, in conjunction with customers and User Experience designers
- Maintain working knowledge of the industry and product domain
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in technical or highly numerate degree educated in IT Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology field equivalent or risk management-based degree, and/or other relevant qualifications
- Typically requires 5+ years of experience in business analysis with increasing responsibilities and project complexities
- Some work experience in a similar or related area is preferred
- Some experience of SQL and data visualization or other preferred reporting solution.
- Examples might be Domo, Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, Business Objects, or similar
- Interest in best practice and innovative requirements gathering and data visualization design
- Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills are essential
- Ability to reason through logic problems and apply creative thinking, with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines
- Self-starter, able to work independently whilst contributing to a team environment based in other countries
- Occasional out of hours work may be needed if critical issues arise.
