Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and perform complex bookkeeping tasks, including recording financial transactions and reviewing entries for accuracy.
- Review and process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring compliance with client policies and timelines.
- Perform advanced bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations; resolve discrepancies independently.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Maintain, review, and analyze general ledger accounts; propose adjusting entries when needed.
- Communicate effectively with clients, addressing inquiries, advising on bookkeeping best practices, and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Support and mentor associate bookkeepers; review their work for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, checklists, internal controls, and workflow processes; recommend improvements for efficiency.
- Coordinate with accountants during audits or year-end close processes.
- Manage confidential financial data with the highest level of integrity and security.
Skills Required
- Masters degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3-5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally in a multi-client or outsourced accounting environment.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, MYOB) and strong Excel skills.
- Deep understanding of accounting principles, general ledger functions, accruals, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to resolve complex reconciliation issues.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional judgment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to clients and junior staff.
- Demonstrated integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
- Exceptional English-speaking and written communication skills.
- Strong client communication and relationship management skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience supervising or reviewing the work of junior bookkeeping staff.
- Background in outsourcing, shared services, or multi-client accounting environments.
- Professional certification in bookkeeping or accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Xero Certification).
- Familiarity with cloud-based accounting ecosystems, workflow automation tools, and integration platforms.
- Experience assisting with process improvements or implementing best practices in bookkeeping workflows.
