We are currently expanding our India-based team and are looking for experienced bookkeeping and accounting professionals who are seeking astable, long-term remote rolewithin a highly structured and professional environment.

This is not a short-term or casual opportunity. We invest heavily in onboarding, training, systems, and integration, and we are looking for people who want to grow with the business over time.

Position Overview

This role involves advanced bookkeeping and payroll work across a portfolio of Australian clients. You will work within clearly documented procedures, supported by structured workflows, task management systems, and a collaborative remote team.

The role suits someone who values clarity, structure, accountability, and professional standards, and who is comfortable being responsible for delivery rather than loosely defined tasks.

How the Engagement Works

This role is performed day-to-day as part of theExdia team, working on Australian client systems and processes.

Roles are primarilyscope-based, not traditional hourly employment:

  • Each role has a defined scope of responsibility with an agreed monthly value
  • Work is planned carefully and supported by strong procedures
  • Accountability and delivery matter more than clock-watching

There are limited exceptions:

  • During probation, work may be tracked hourly at a probationary rate
  • Additional project or internal operations work may be offered separately

Relevate also operates anOffline Rest Policy, supporting sustainable work patterns alongside clear delivery expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Accounting

  • Accounts payable and receivable
  • Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • System checks and data integrity reviews
  • Journals, reporting, and month-end processes
  • File clean-ups, repairs, and rebuilds
  • Backlog and catch-up projects
  • GST and related compliance work
  • Other bookkeeping and accounting support as required

Payroll Processing

  • Payroll system setup and configuration
  • New employee onboarding and setup
  • Pay item and template configuration
  • Reading and interpreting Australian employment awards
  • PAYG, superannuation, and salary sacrifice processing
  • Ongoing payroll compliance and administration

Operational & Team Support

  • Managing incoming emails and task triage
  • Daily schedule and workflow management
  • Client and internal team communications
  • Participation in meetings and coordination activities
  • General business operations support as required

Skills & Qualities

Essential

  • Strong systems and procedural thinking; ability to follow complex written procedures precisely
  • Very high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to learn and navigate new software and systems quickly
  • Strong people skills with professional communication
  • Ability to manage conversations constructively, including complexity or conflict
  • Very high standard of written English, including documentation and email etiquette
  • High conversational spoken English for video and phone communication
  • Advanced bookkeeping, accounting, and payroll capability with strong compliance awareness
  • Proactive, diligent, and ownership-driven mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and switch contexts without losing accuracy

Highly Desirable

  • Xero expertise at advisor level
  • Experience with complex Australian payrolls
  • Australian GST and BAS experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Experience with complex scheduling and task management systems

Candidate assessment will focus primarily onvalues alignment and essential criteria. Highly desirable skills will differentiate candidates but are not a substitute for the essentials.

Home-Based Setup Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must have:
