Description
We are seeking a experienced Senior BIM/3D Designer with expertise in developing and managing detailed 3D models for high voltage substations and associated infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will lead BIM coordination, clash detection, and model integration across multiple disciplines, ensuring compliance with project standards and delivering accurate, clash-free models for design, review, and construction.
Responsibilities
- Develop and mange comprehensive 3D models for substations, control buildings, and the associated civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical components.
- Utilize autodesk revit and other BIM tools to create accurate models and generate 2D extracts for design reviews and approvals.
- Implement robust clash detection and resolution procedures using tools such as navisworks or equivalent.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams(Electrical, Civil, Structural, HVAC, Architectural) to ensure model consistency and integration.
- Maintain and update models with latest vendor and subcontractor data; ensure all objects are properly tagged and documented.
- Generate deliverables directly from 3D models, Including:
- General arrangement drawings
- Equipment layouts
- Cable tray and trench layouts
- Structural framing plans, elevation, and sections
- Earthing, Lighting & Lightning protection layouts
- Civil and architectural drawings
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure design accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Prepare construction documents and specifications based on BIM models.
- Conduct clash detection and resolve issues during the design phase.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of junior designers in BIM practices.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on design progress.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline.
- Certification in BIM technologies (Autodesk Revit, Navisworks).
- 5+ years of experience in 3D modeling and BIM coordination, with at least 3 years in power infrastructure or industrial projects.
- Proven experience in substation or large - scale plant modeling.
- Gulf experience is must.
- Proficient in BIM software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and clash detection tools.
- Strong understanding of substation design and electrical systems.
- Understanding of international standards and project CAD/BIM procedures.
- Experience in 3D modeling and visualization techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Project Management & Standards
- Ensure adherence to client and international BIM standards, CAD procedures, and project- specific modeling guidelines.
- Act as BIM coordinator for internal and external stakeholders, managing interface models and design review data exchanges.
- Support design reviews, client presentations, and handover of as -built, clash-free models in native formats.
- Train and guide junior designers and CAD operators in BIM best practices.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of 4D/5D BIM for scheduling and cost integration.
- Familiarity with cloud-based collaboration platforms(BIM 360 or similar).
- Knowledge of GIS integration and digital twin concepts.
