Job Description:

About the Role

As a BI Developer at Stolt-Nielsen, you will transform raw data into actionable insights that empower our business teams. You'll build robust data models, design intuitive Power BI dashboards, and maintain reliable data pipelines using Databricks and SQL.

A key part of this role is advanced report development using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS/Paginated Reporting). You'll be responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining complex paginated reports, and will play a leading role in our planned migration of legacy SSRS reporting to our modern data platform.

Working closely with stakeholders from across the organization, you'll ensure data is both accessible and trusted to inform key decisions. You will also help drive the data literacy of the company, by giving trainings, sharing best practices and supporting a transition to self-service.

At Stolt-Nielsen, we take Digital seriously. We invest in our teams through training and mentoring and enable them with the required tools to work in a modern way. As we are further building up our engineering practice, there is ample room for you to contribute, take initiative and shape the future of our ways of working and technology landscape.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop engaging Power BI dashboards and visualizations tailored to diverse business needs
  • Design and maintain scalable data models in Power BI and Databricks
  • Create and manage ETL/ELT pipelines to harmonise data from multiple sources (APIs, databases, flat files, cloud services)
  • Write, optimise and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures
  • Collaborate with colleagues to gather requirements and translate business questions into technical solutions
  • Champion data quality, governance and security in all BI processes
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and enhance data workflows for reliability and performance
  • Stay current with best practices in BI and data engineering, including new Power BI features and Databricks capabilities.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years experience as a BI Developer, Data Analyst, or related
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI (data modeling, DAX, report development)
  • Strong command of SQL (across Microsoft and cloud platforms)
  • Solid experience with Databricks (Workspace, Notebooks)
  • Experience with Azure data services and cloud-based BI solutions
  • Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and strong communication skills
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices
  • Understanding of agile delivery methodologies.

Must Have Skills:

  • Databricks
  • Power BI / DAX
  • Dimensional modelling
  • Python
  • Azure services (storage, compute)

Nice to have Skills:

  • Experience with dbt or other modern data stack tools
  • Knowledge of data governance and cataloguing (Unity Catalog, Purview)
  • Power BI embedded, Power Query (M), and custom visuals
