This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (6 months Contract) - Remote in India.
This role offers the opportunity to build and maintain scalable backend systems for a fast-growing product-based tech environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including frontend, design, and product to develop robust APIs, optimize database performance, and ensure reliability and security across backend services. This is a fully remote position requiring hands-on expertise in Python or Node.js , with a focus on delivering high-quality, scalable solutions. You will be responsible for improving system performance, implementing integrations, and troubleshooting complex backend issues. The role demands a detail-oriented engineer capable of working independently while collaborating effectively across teams. This contract-to-hire position allows you to showcase your skills with the potential for long-term growth.
Accountabilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python or Node.js .
- Develop and optimize database schemas and queries to ensure scalability and performance.
- Implement integrations with external systems and third-party services.
- Collaborate closely with frontend, design, and product teams to align backend functionality with product requirements.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements for reliability and security.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented backend code.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and system design processes.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a backend engineer.
- Strong proficiency in Python or JavaScript ( Node.js ) and related frameworks.
- Experience in product-based organizations and remote working environments.
- Solid understanding of backend architecture, RESTful APIs, and database systems (SQL/NoSQL).
- Knowledge of performance optimization, scalability, debugging, and monitoring practices.
- Ability to work full-time independently and maintain focus in a remote setting.
- Own a personal laptop (MacBook preferred) and a reliable internet connection.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and collaborative mindset.
