Senior Automotive Electrical Product Design Engineer
About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Automotive Electrical Product Design Engineer to lead the design and development of electrical and power electronic componentsincluding converters, inverters, electrical systems, and HVAC/transport refrigeration components for automotive applications. You will drive innovation, launch new products, and ensure compliance with industry standards and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development
Lead the architecture, design, and development of automotive-type electrical components, including converters, inverters, power electronics, and HVAC/transport refrigeration systems.
Oversee all electrical components integral to these systems, ensuring robust performance and reliability.
Risk Analysis & Testing
Develop comprehensive DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to identify reliability risks and mitigation strategies.
Create and execute test plansranging from functional testing to environmental and regulatory evaluations.
Documentation & Specification
Generate detailed documentationincluding specification drawings and Application Specification Documentsto support design clarity and manufacturing handoff.
Regulatory Compliance & Testing Coordination
Coordinate and manage testing activities at external agencies for requirements such as HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) and EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), ensuring full compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Product Development Process
Play an active role in New Product Development (NPD), ensuring structured progression through milestones from concept, through design verification, to product launch.
Safety & Standards Mastery
Apply in-depth knowledge of electrical safety standards relevant to mobile automotive systems (both AC and DC domains).
Modeling & Simulation
Utilize tools like MATLAB and Dymola to model, simulate, and validate electrical and power electronic component behavior under real-world operating conditions.
What We're Looking For
Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical product design and developmentpreferably in the automotive sector.
Expertise: Proven track record in DFMEA, test planning/execution, regulatory testing (HALT, EMC), and documentation.
Tools: Proficient in MATLAB and Dymola for modeling and simulation tasks.
Standards: Solid understanding of applicable electrical safety regulations and protocols for automotive mobile systems.
Process-Oriented: Familiarity with New Product Development (NPD) lifecycle, including milestone-driven deliverables.
Soft Skills: Strong communication, coordination, and project-management abilities. Capability to work effectively with external testing agencies and internal cross-functional teams.
