Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement scalable automation solutions for enterprise backup and recovery operations. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Ansible and Python, strong infrastructure knowledge, and experience in improving operational efficiency through automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop automation frameworks using Ansible and Python for backup and recovery processes.
- Create, maintain, and optimize Ansible playbooks, roles, and Python scripts for infrastructure and backup operations.
- Automate routine backup activities such as scheduling, monitoring, validation, and reporting.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for backup configurations and operational standards.
- Integrate automation workflows with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI) and version control using Git.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Cloud, and Operations teams to streamline processes and improve reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve automation failures, performance issues, and operational incidents.
- Integrate automation with ITSM tools for incident, change, and service request workflows.
- Ensure automation solutions meet security, compliance, and audit requirements.
- Provide technical leadership, best practices, and guidance to junior team members.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure Automation / DevOps.
- Expert-level experience with Ansible for configuration management and orchestration.
- Strong programming skills in Python for automation and scripting.
- Solid experience with Linux/Unix administration (Windows automation is a plus).
- Experience with enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Commvault, NetBackup, Veeam, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and automation best practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience automating infrastructure on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow or similar).
- Knowledge of security and compliance standards related to infrastructure and data protection.
