POSITION TITLE:SeniorAssociate - Aerospace & Defense
LOCATION:US India Strategic Partnership Forum, New Delhi Office (however, those based in Bangalore/Hyderabad may apply)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This role entails working with a broad policy portfolio including aerospace, defense, civil aviation, space technologies, and other relevant critical & emerging tech sectors.
The candidate must demonstrate a deep sector undertaking, policy expertise, and the ability to engage with government, industry, and a wide array of stakeholders.
The role will require the candidate to work on preparing policy and background briefs, stakeholder mapping, engagement planning, and organizational work to execute events and programs.
This position reports to the Senior Director, Aerospace & Defense, and with oversight of the Managing Director of USISPF, India.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Track relevant regulatory and policy developments; prepare updates for members, including briefing notes on policy priorities, writing white papers/ submissions, and other documents.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute in-person and virtual events with external stakeholders, including central / state government officials, sector regulators, and other key public/private stakeholder groups onAerospace & Defense; Civil Aviation and Space Technologies.
- Support the team on member outreach. This will involve engaging with member companies and developing multiple points of contact within member companies
- Build a database of key stakeholders in the sectors at hand.
- Draft the monthly Aerospace & Defense newsletter highlighting all relevant policy, events, and member updates
- Draft advocacy letters, presentations, briefing papers, talking points, press releases, and other advocacy materials as needed.
- Inform members of new developments within the portfolio by reading trade press, GOI websites, the US Government, and other sources.
- Perform various logistical tasks in support of the above responsibilities, e.g. update USISPF's database, schedule meetings/conference calls, create promotional flyers, and maintain document files.
EXPERIENCE:
5 years of professional work experience related to the aerospace & defense, space, critical & emerging tech sectors.
A basic familiarity/understanding of India's culture, political structure, and business environment is required.
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required.
Excellent skills in analysis, writing, speaking, and client relations are required.
Excellent research skills required
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of the aerospace & defense and space technology sector and background in advocacy and public policy development.
- Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate, political, and educational institution levels.
- Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with a strong professional reputation in the industry.
- Ability to identify and understand key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in legislative and regulatory proposals.
- Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others as required.
- Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills, and political acumen.
- Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others.
