About the Role
The
Senior Assistant Relationship Manager MEL is a key position within the
Rural Sales function of
Retail Banking , responsible for deepening customer relationships and delivering high-quality service to rural clients. The role supports the Relationship Manager in identifying business owners and entrepreneurs within the defined catchment area and assessing their business loan requirements. The incumbent is expected to drive client acquisition, build household-level relationships, and maximize customer lifetime value, while contributing to the bank's broader financial inclusion and community development goals.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct zoning activities to map household needs in assigned villages and areas.
- Perform end-user checks post-loan disbursal and achieve monthly and annual group loan booking targets.
- Assess client needs and generate new revenue streams through cross-selling based on lifestyle, risk profile, and financial requirements.
- Drive penetration of product in rural markets through lead generation and account openings.
- Achieve individual and branch sales goals through new business acquisition, referrals, and account retention.
- Encourage behavioural changes in customers to promote adoption of digital and online banking.
- Maintain high collection efficiency through disciplined follow-ups and customer engagement.
- Ensure accurate documentation for loans accounts.
- Coordinate with operations officers to ensure timely and accurate data entry.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct field audits and customer verifications to maintain high-quality accounts.
- Gather market intelligence and benchmark against best practices in competitor banks.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance service efficiency and quality across the branch network.
- Support the implementation of livelihood advancement and community development initiatives.
What We Are Looking For
Education
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in rural banking, financial services, or sales is desirable.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong understanding of rural customer needs and local market dynamics.
- Ability to build and manage customer relationships at both household and business levels.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
