Job Description

Purpose

The Background Verification Associate is accountable for driving a robust and compliant background screening framework that safeguards organizational integrity and supports informed hiring decisions. This role goes beyond operational checks to include process optimization, risk mitigation, and stakeholder engagement at a strategic level.

Essential capabilities

Attention to Detail - The ability to meticulously review information and identify discrepancies in candidates backgrounds.

Strong Analytical Skills - Proficiency in analysing background check results and making informed decisions based on the findings.

Communication Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively conveying findings to HR and other stakeholders.

Problem-Solving Abilities A proactive approach to resolving discrepancies or issues that may arise during the verification process.

Experience

Worked in a high volume/complex contact centre/operations environment

Prior experience of HR operations including managing BGV

Qualification Requirements

Graduation - Business/Human Resources (Preferred)

8-12 years of relevant experience

Key accountabilities

Design and Govern Processes: Establish and continuously refine background verification standards, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.

Risk Management: Identify gaps or potential risks in the probity process and implement corrective measures proactively.

Automation & Efficiency: Lead initiatives to reduce manual interventions by partnering with technology teams to implement automation solutions for verification workflows.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, HR, and external vendors to ensure timely and accurate completion of checks.

Escalation Management: Address escalated cases promptly, providing clear guidance and resolution strategies to minimize business impact.

Reporting & Insights: Oversee governance dashboards and reporting mechanisms to monitor compliance, highlight trends, and recommend improvements.

Vendor Oversight: Manage relationships with verification partners, ensuring service quality, cost efficiency, and adherence to agreed SLAs.

Continuous Improvement: Drive process enhancements and best practices to strengthen the overall probity framework.
