Role Overview
The Senior Accountant will own end-to-end accounting operations, ensure statutory compliance, and deliver accurate financial reporting. This role demands control, discipline, and zero tolerance for errors—because finance is not a trial-and-error function.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
• Maintain books of accounts as per Indian GAAP
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Handle GL scrutiny, reconciliations, and closing processes
• Ensure accuracy in revenue recognition (important for education business model)
2. Compliance & Taxation
• Manage GST compliance (returns, reconciliations, audits)
• Handle TDS/TCS filings and reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with Companies Act, 2013 requirements
• Coordinate with auditors for statutory, internal, and tax audits
3. Receivables & Payables Management
• Monitor student fee collections, outstanding receivables
• Vendor payments and payable cycles management
• Implement strong credit control mechanisms
4. Banking & Cash Flow
• Perform bank reconciliations regularly
• Manage cash flow forecasting and fund planning
• Liaise with banks for day-to-day operations
5. Internal Controls & Process Improvement
• Strengthen accounting controls and SOPs
• Identify inefficiencies and drive automation (ERP, accounting tools)
• Ensure audit readiness at all times
6. Team Handling
• Supervise junior accountants
• Review work, provide guidance, and maintain accountability
Key Requirements
Qualifications
• B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter (CA preferred mindset even if not qualified)
Experience
• 4–7 years of relevant accounting experience
• Prior experience in education / service sector is an advantage
Technical Skills
• Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, and financial reporting
• Hands-on with accounting software (Tally / Zoho / ERP systems)
• Advanced Excel skills (non-negotiable)
