Team Purpose
IES Navigation (Nav) Team is a core mobile experience team within Amazon Shopping responsible for designing, building, and optimizing the navigation surfaces that connect hundreds of millions of customers to their desired destinations across the Amazon mobile app and web. We own critical above-the-fold (ATF) real estate including Top Nav bar, Destination Halo, Hamburger Menu, and Homepage navigation components that drive customer engagement and business value across multiple international marketplaces including India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, and more.
Job Description
We are seeking a talented SDE to join our team and help build world-class mobile navigation experiences on iOS and Android platforms, along with the backend services that power them. In this role, you will work on high-visibility features that directly impact customer engagement and business metrics. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative navigation solutions that help customers discover Amazon's diverse product offerings and services.
As a member of Nav team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge mobile development, build scalable backend services, experiment with new UX paradigms like animations and dynamic content, and expand Amazon's navigation capabilities to new international markets. You will also contribute to our engineering excellence initiatives, including system migrations, latency optimizations, and operational improvements.

. Visual Halo: Discovery enhancement specifically designed for various sub-categories, ranked by customer preferences
. 2-Col Hamburger: Experimental navigation layout optimisation for mobile experiences
. Do More: Extended engagement features that keep customers exploring on Amazon.in
Technical Focus Areas
. Mobile-First Design: Native Android/iOS development
. Configuration Systems: Dynamic, configurable UI components for rapid experimentation
. Visual Discovery: Image-based navigation and product discovery experiences
. Performance Optimization: Ranking based discovery of categories for customer cohorts
Key job responsibilities
- ..Build navigation features.. for iOS and Android (Top Nav, Halo, Hamburger Menu, Homepage components)
- ..Develop backend services.. powering navigation surfaces (Highway, Nav Config Studio, APIs)
- ..Enable content configurability.. for rapid updates without native app releases
- ..Implement targeting & personalization.. through Bullseye integration
- ..Drive marketplace expansion.. across MENA regions (UAE, SA, EG, TR)
- ..Optimize latency.. and build low-latency architectures for fast navigation rendering
- ..Execute system migrations.. (JLC3, legacy linktrees, DUB to FRA infrastructure)
- ..Maintain operational excellence.. through monitoring, alarming, and on-call rotations
- ..Collaborate cross-functionally.. with ranking, discovery, and merchandising teams
- 1+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
