Role Summary
The Manager – Recipe Development & Recipe Management (SAP) is responsible for leading the creation, maintenance, and governance of product recipes within SAP systems, primarily SAP PLM, SAP Recipe Development (RD), Specification Management, and related modules.
This role partners with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Regulatory teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient recipe lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Recipe Development & Maintenance
Lead end-to-end recipe creation and modification using SAP Recipe Development (SAP RD).
Ensure accurate formulation, ingredients, materials, quantities, process steps, and production versions.
Maintain master data elements: specifications, BOMs, routings, labels, and nutritional info.
Validate recipe accuracy through collaboration with R&D, Quality, and Plant Operations.
End to End Configurations for Recipe Development or Recipe Management
Data migration from RM to RD
Custom Developments in RM or RD
2. SAP System Leadership
Serve as the subject-matter expert for SAP PLM/RD and Recipe Management processes.
Lead enhancements, testing, UAT, and integration of recipe-related SAP functionalities.
Collaborate with IT to resolve system issues, implement upgrades, and optimize usability.
4. Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with:
R&D for new product development (NPD)
Quality Assurance for specifications and compliance
Manufacturing for production feasibility
Procurement for ingredient and vendor data
Regulatory & Nutrition for mandatory disclosures
Act as the central point of contact for recipe-related queries and decisions.
6. Team Management & Training
Manage a team of recipe specialists, technologists, or analysts (if applicable).
Conduct end-user training for SAP PLM/RD and recipe workflows.
Build SOPs and best practices for recipe development and governance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
Strong expertise in SAP PLM, SAP Recipe Development (RD), Specification Management and PLM Migration
Understanding of SAP modules such as PP, QM, MM, ECM, EHS, and integrations.
Hands-on experience with:
BOM & routing creation
Process parameters & formulations
Nutritional & labeling data management
Document management (DMS)
Domain Knowledge
Background in Food & Beverage, CPG, Chemicals, Pharma, or similar sectors where formulation/recipe management is critical.
Knowledge of:
Ingredient regulations
Nutritional compliance standards
Allergen management
Product lifecycle management
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
Project management experience preferred.
Experience
7–12 years of experience in recipe/formula management in SAP environments.
Minimum 4 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
