EHS Consultant is responsible for implementing, configuring, and optimizing SAP's EHS module to ensure organizational compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- System Implementation & Configuration: Lead or support the design, implementation, and configuration of SAP EHS modules to meet specific business needs and regulatory requirements.
- Business Analysis & Solution Design: Analyze business requirements for EHS processes, conduct fit/gap analysis, and translate user needs into clear technical specifications and robust solutions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all EHS processes and system functionalities comply with applicable local, national, and international regulations (e.g., OSHA, REACH, SARA 312, GxP).
- Module Management: Manage and configure specific EHS sub-modules, which may include:
- Incident Management (tracking, investigation, and reporting of incidents/near misses)
- Product Safety and Stewardship (Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management, dangerous goods, substance volume tracking, labeling)
- Occupational Health (medical surveillance protocols, scheduling examinations, recording diagnoses)
- Risk Assessment and Workplace Safety (identifying hazards, assessing risks, managing controls, and creating safety instructions)
- Environmental Compliance (managing emissions, waste, and chemical inventories)
- Integration: Ensure seamless integration between the SAP EHS module and other SAP modules such as Materials Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Production Planning (PP), Human Resources (HR), and Plant Maintenance (PM).
- Support & Training: Provide ongoing technical support, troubleshoot issues, manage change requests, and deliver training and documentation to end-users.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: 5 + years of hands-on experience in SAP EHS module implementation and support.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of the SAP EHS data model, system configuration, and related integration points.
- EHS Expertise: Strong functional knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations and compliance processes.
- Education: A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field is often a minimum requirement, with a master's degree preferred for senior roles.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are crucial for collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
