Job Title: SAP BusinessObjects to Power BI Solution Architect

Role Overview

We are seeking a Solution Architect to lead the strategic migration of our legacy SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) environment to Power BI. Unlike a standard lift-and-shift, this role focuses on automated migration pathways. You will leverage BOBJ SDKs and Power BI REST APIs to extract metadata, recreate semantic layers, and programmatically deploy assets to the Power BI Service.

Key Responsibilities

* Architectural Strategy: Define the end-to-state architecture for Power BI, ensuring parity for complex BOBJ Universes (.unv and .unx) and Web Intelligence reports.

* SDK/API Development: Develop custom tooling using SAP BusinessObjects Java/REST SDKs to audit and extract report metadata and logic.

* Automated Provisioning: Utilize Power BI REST APIs and PowerShell to automate workspace creation, dataset deployment, and security configuration.

* Semantic Layer Mapping: Re-engineer complex BOBJ join logic and row-level security into Power BI Tabular Models (DAX).

* Performance Optimization: Ensure high-volume data extracts from SAP BW, HANA, or SQL sources are optimized for Power BI Premium capacities.

Required Technical Skills

* SAP BOBJ Mastery: Deep experience with Information Design Tool (IDT), CMC, and Web Intelligence.

* Development: Proficiency in Java or C# (for BOBJ SDK) and Python or PowerShell (for Power BI automation).

* Power BI Expert: Advanced knowledge of Power BI Service architecture, XMLA endpoints, and Deployment Pipelines.

* Data Modeling: Expert-level DAX and M (Power Query) skills.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with third-party migration accelerators or metadata conversion tools.

* Azure DevOps experience for CI/CD integration of BI assets.

* SAP Certified Application Associate in SAP BusinessObjects or Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300).
