Job Description

Key Responsibilities

SAP System Administration & Operations

  • Perform daily SAP BASIS administration tasks, including system monitoring, performance tuning, health checks, and troubleshooting across SAP landscapes such as ECC, S/4HANA, BW, CRM, SRM, etc.
  • Manage and monitor SAP background jobs, print and spool administration, and batch management.
  • Administer SAP user accounts, roles, and authorizations ensuring compliance with security policies.
  • Configure and maintain the SAP Transport Management System (TMS) to enable smooth code and configuration deployments across environments.
  • Implement and manage SAP client administration activities including client copies and deletions.

Installation, Upgrades & Migrations

  • Lead and participate in SAP system installations, upgrades, and patching activities (e.g., Support Pack Stacks, Enhancement Packs, Kernel upgrades) with minimal downtime.
  • Execute SAP system migrations such as OS/DB migrations, heterogeneous system copies, and S/4HANA conversions.
  • Assist in planning and executing disaster recovery strategies and backup/restore procedures for SAP systems and underlying databases.

Database Administration

  • Perform database administration tasks for SAP-supported databases such as SAP HANA, Oracle, SQL Server, IBM Db2 (specify relevant).
  • Monitor database performance, perform optimizations, manage indexes, and ensure data integrity.
  • Manage database backups, recovery processes, and replication activities.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization

  • Proactively monitor SAP system performance using tools like SAP Solution Manager, CCMS, and native database monitoring tools.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, analyze SAP dumps, and optimize system parameters for peak efficiency.

Cloud & Integration (If Applicable)

  • Manage SAP systems deployed on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP (specify relevant platforms).
  • Understand cloud infrastructure, network configurations, and security best practices within cloud environments.
  • Support integration of SAP systems with third-party applications and services (e.g., via SAP PO/PI, CPI).

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Provide expert-level support for complex SAP BASIS issues, collaborating with functional teams, developers, and external vendors (e.g., SAP OSS).
  • Analyze system logs, traces, and dumps to diagnose and resolve technical problems efficiently.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical production support as required.

Documentation & Best Practices

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including system architecture diagrams, SOPs, installation guides, and troubleshooting manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with SAP best practices and organizational standards.
