Core Components of SAP BASIS

System Administration

User and role management.

Client administration (creation, copy, deletion).

Vulnerability Management

Hands on with Onapsis Vulnerability Management

Transport Management

Managing changes across SAP landscapes (DEV QA PROD).

Transport Directory and CTS (Change and Transport System).

System Monitoring & Performance

Workload analysis, memory management, and tuning.

Monitoring background jobs and system logs.

Database Administration

Database backup and recovery.

Performance optimization and space management.

Installation & Upgrades

SAP system installation and kernel upgrades.

Applying patches and support packages.

Security & Authorizations

Role-based access control.

Compliance with audit requirements.

Integration

SAP BASIS ABAP: Supports custom developments and transports.

SAP BASIS Functional Modules (MM, SD, FI, etc.): Ensures system availability for business processes.

SAP BASIS SAP NetWeaver: Middleware for integration with other systems.

SAP BASIS SAP HANA: Database administration and optimization for S/4HANA.

Cloud & S/4HANA

Managing SAP systems on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).

Migration to S/4HANA and HANA DB administration

Technical Good-to-Haves

SAP HANA Expertise

HANA DB administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

S/4HANA migration experience.

Cloud Knowledge

Deploying SAP systems on Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Understanding SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform).

Linux/Unix Administration

Since most SAP systems run on Linux, OS-level skills are critical.

Networking & Security

SSL configuration, SNC, and secure communication.

Firewall and VPN basics for SAP landscapes.

Performance Optimization

Workload analysis, memory management, and tuning for HANA and application servers.

Process & Tools

Transport Management System (TMS)

Advanced CTS+, ChaRM (Change Request Management).

Monitoring Tools

SAP Solution Manager, Focused Run, and third-party tools.

Backup & Disaster Recovery

High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) setup for HANA.
