Position Overview :
We are seeking an experienced Lead / Architect SAP ABAP to provide strategic technical leadership and define enterprise-wide ABAP architecture across ECC and S/4HANA landscapes. The role will play a critical part in shaping the organizations S/4HANA transformation roadmap, establishing development and governance standards, and designing scalable, future-ready solutions aligned with clean core and extensibility principles.
The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong architectural vision and leadership capability, working closely with business, functional, integration, and infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality, enterprise-grade SAP solutions.
Technology Landscape
This role involves extensive work with platforms and technologies from SAP, including ECC, S/4HANA, cloud-based extensions, and enterprise integration services.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Strategy :
- Define, own, and govern enterprise ABAP architecture and design standards for ECC and S/4HANA landscapes.
- Establish architectural principles aligned with clean core, extensibility, and SAP recommended best practices.
- Define target-state architecture and technical roadmaps for S/4HANA modernization initiatives.
S/4HANA Transformation Leadership
- Lead and oversee greenfield and brownfield S/4HANA implementations and large-scale migration programs.
- Define technical approaches for custom code remediation, simplification item handling, and optimization.
- Ensure all custom developments are compliant with HANA and S/4HANA standards.
Solution Design & Modern ABAP
- Design scalable and extensible solutions using RAP, CDS Views, AMDP, OData services, and APIs.
- Drive adoption of ABAP on HANA and database push-down techniques.
- Define patterns for reusable business objects, services, and integration components.
Clean Core & Extensibility
- Drive clean core principles for in-app and side-by-side extensibility.
- Define governance models for custom developments and enhancements.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate extensibility options based on business needs.
Technical Leadership & Governance
- Provide architectural guidance, conduct design and code reviews, and approve technical solutions.
- Establish coding standards, naming conventions, and documentation practices.
- Mentor architects, senior developers, and technical leads.
Delivery & Team Leadership
- Lead and manage technical teams in complex, multi-stream delivery programs.
- Support estimation, planning, risk management, and technical decision-making.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
Collaboration
- Work closely with functional, integration, and basis teams to ensure end-to-end solution alignment.
- Participate in architecture boards, design workshops, and stakeholder reviews.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 12 to 15 years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP and related technologies.
- Expert-level knowledge of ABAP, ABAP on HANA, and RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP).
- Strong experience in S/4HANA architecture, extensibility, and modernization.
- Hands-on expertise with CDS Views, AMDP, OData services, and API design.
- Proven experience leading technical teams in large enterprise programs.
- Strong knowledge of SAP development standards, transport management, and lifecycle processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
Preferred / Good To Have
- Exposure to SAP BTP extensions (in-app and side-by-side).
- Experience with Fiori Elements and UI integration.
- Knowledge of SAP Activate methodology.
