Description
We are seeking a Senior Technical Architect / Practice Lead SAP ABAP to provide strategic leadership across solution architecture, technical presales, and delivery governance. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to clients and internal leadership, drive large-scale ECC to S/4HANA transformation initiatives, and build, scale, and manage high-performing technical teams within the ABAP practice.
The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong business acumen, presales capability, and people leadership to shape enterprise SAP modernization programs and grow the organizations ABAP practice.
Technology Landscape
This role involves extensive engagement with platforms and technologies from SAP, including ECC, S/4HANA, cloud-based extensions, and enterprise integration services.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Transformation Leadership :
- Lead end-to-end solutioning for ECC to S/4HANA transformation programs (greenfield, brownfield, and landscape optimization).
- Define target-state architectures, technical roadmaps, and modernization strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Design scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions using ABAP on HANA, RAP, CDS Views, AMDP, OData services, and APIs.
- Drive clean core and extensibility principles for in-app and side-by-side developments.
Technical Presales & Client Advisory
- Own technical presales activities including solution design, estimations, RFP/RFI responses, and proposal creation.
- Lead client presentations, architecture walkthroughs, and technical workshops.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, influencing solution direction and technology choices.
Practice & Capability Building
- Define and maintain practice-level reference architectures, standards, frameworks, and reusable accelerators.
- Drive standardization, reusability, and innovation within the ABAP practice.
- Identify and build new capabilities aligned with SAP roadmap and market demand.
Delivery Governance & Quality Assurance
- Provide architectural oversight and governance across multiple programs and accounts.
- Establish and enforce development standards, coding guidelines, and quality gates.
- Review and approve technical designs and complex developments.
People Leadership & Talent Development
- Manage, mentor, and grow large onshore and offshore technical teams.
- Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
- Build a strong pipeline of architects, leads, and senior developers.
Stakeholder & Business Partnership
- Partner with sales, delivery, and functional leadership to shape and deliver winning solutions.
- Collaborate with account teams to support growth and client satisfaction.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 15+ years of strong experience in SAP ABAP and S/4HANA ecosystems.
- Proven expertise in solution architecture, estimation, and technical presales.
- Deep understanding of ABAP on HANA, RAP, CDS Views, AMDP, APIs, and OData services.
- Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing skills.
- Demonstrated people management and leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of SAP development standards, architecture principles, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred / Good To Have
- Strong hands-on exposure to SAP BTP services and extensibility models.
- Experience defining practice-level standards, frameworks, and accelerators.
- Exposure to DevOps / CI-CD for SAP and automation.
