Job Description: Manager – Business Development (Wholesale/FMCG)

Location: Chandigarh

Experience: 12–15 Years (FMCG & Retail Sales mandatory)

Type: Full-Time

Role Objective

We are seeking a seasoned Business Development Manager to lead our Reseller Sales and field force operations for our wholesale hub in Chandigarh. The ideal candidate will drive sustainable, profitable growth across key sub-segments—including Institutions (Hospitals, Education, Army Stores), Manufacturing, and Religious bodies—by fostering deep member relationships and implementing strategic business solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Strategy Implementation

  • Lead and motivate the Reseller Sales and Business Development team to build a high-performing field force.
  • Execute comprehensive business plans to achieve sales targets across diverse sub-segments.
  • Develop and implement a sustained sales strategy to drive revenue from high-value members and institutions.

2. Member Engagement & Value Addition

  • Drive sales by enrolling right-fit members, analyzing buying patterns, and identifying assortment gaps to increase ticket size and transaction frequency.
  • Promote value-added services, including private-label credit cards, electronic payment solutions, and cash pickup services.
  • Facilitate seamless order-to-delivery cycles by coordinating with 3rd-party logistics and delivery desks.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Merchandising to ensure product availability and competitive market pricing.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Finance, and Legal teams to resolve service hurdles and optimize member experience.
  • Align with Marketing and Membership teams to execute targeted acquisition campaigns and promotional activities within the geography.

4. Market Expansion & Performance Management

  • Oversee expansion into rural markets and new Cross-Dock (XD) locations.
  • Manage the category mix effectively to ensure balanced growth and profitability.
  • Maintain accountability for Top-line (Revenue) and Bottom-line (Profit) targets.
  • Monitor and control Business Development Associate (BDA) attrition through effective mentoring and engagement.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Graduate/Post-Graduate in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Experience: 12–15 years of proven track record in FMCG and Retail sales.
  • Competencies: Strong relationship management, strategic planning, and the ability to navigate complex institutional sales environments.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in tracking Daily/Monthly sales plans vs. achievements and providing market feedback on pricing/assortment.
