Job Summary
The Purchase Manager will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating and procuring raw materials, packaging materials and finished goods required for the manufacturing and distribution of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. The role ensures timely procurement while maintaining quality standards, cost efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities1. Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate and onboard reliable suppliers for raw materials, packaging and third-party manufacturing.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and negotiate favorable pricing and payment terms.
- Conduct vendor audits and performance reviews.
2. Procurement Planning
- Plan procurement based on production forecasts, sales demand and inventory levels.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of materials for manufacturing.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
3. Raw Material & Packaging Procurement
Procure materials such as:
- Active ingredients
- Herbal extracts / Ayurvedic ingredients
- Cosmetic chemicals
- Packaging materials (bottles, jars, tubes, pumps, cartons, labels)
4. Price Negotiation & Cost Control
- Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines, and contract terms.
- Compare quotations from multiple vendors.
- Work on cost optimization without compromising product quality.
5. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all materials comply with FDA, GMP, ISO, and cosmetic regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for material approval.
- Maintain procurement documentation and purchase records.
6. Purchase Order Management
- Generate and track Purchase Orders (POs).
- Follow up with suppliers for timely delivery.
- Coordinate with warehouse and accounts teams.
7. Inventory Coordination
- Work closely with the warehouse and production teams.
- Monitor stock levels of raw materials and packaging.
- Implement inventory control systems.
8. Market Research
- Track market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new suppliers.
- Identify alternative vendors to reduce procurement risks.
