Job Description

Job Summary: The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing and enforcing safety policies and procedures at the solar project site. The role involves identifying potential hazards, conducting safety audits, training workers, and ensuring compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Key Responsibilities: Monitor and enforce HSE policies and procedures on the solar project site.
  • Conduct risk assessments and job safety analyses (JSA) for site activities.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and company safety requirements (e.g., Factories Act, Electricity Act, ISO 45001, etc.).
  • Inspect site equipment, machinery, scaffolding, and electrical systems for potential hazards.
  • Provide regular safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions to site workers and staff.
  • Investigate and report incidents, accidents, or near misses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain proper documentation for safety audits, PPE issuance, safety training, incident logs, and compliance reports.
  • Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure safe work practices.
  • Implement emergency response procedures and ensure availability of first aid, fire safety, and evacuation plans.
  • Liaise with external safety inspectors, auditors, and government bodies during inspections and audits.
  • Promote a culture of safety and proactive hazard identification among workers.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Diploma/Degree in Engineering or Science with additional qualifications in Industrial Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or Diploma in Industrial Safety).

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in solar or renewable energy projects.
  • Knowledge of solar PV project execution, electrical safety, working at heights, and confined space safety.
  • Familiar with local labor laws and environmental compliance standards.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and observation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in remote project locations.
