Job Description

Job Summary:

The Flight Safety Manager eVTOL is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining a robust Flight Safety Management System (FSMS) to ensure safe conduct of eVTOL flight test, certification, demonstration, and operational activities. The role supports the unique risks associated with electric propulsion, distributed propulsion systems, autonomy, and novel aircraft configurations, while ensuring regulatory compliance and continuous safety improvement.

Job Description And Scope

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain the Flight Safety Management System in accordance with ICAO, DGCA, FAA, and EASA SMS frameworks, tailored for eVTOL operations.
  • Define safety policy, objectives, and safety performance indicators.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all operational teams.
  • Flight Test & Experimental Operations Safety:
  • Conduct safety risk assessments and safety cases for prototype and certification flights.
  • Approve flight test hazard analyses, CONOPS, emergency procedures, and go/no-go criteria.
  • Ensure safe integration of electric propulsion, batteries, fly-by-wire, and autonomy systems.
  • Operational & UAM Safety:
  • Support vertiport and ground handling safety planning.
  • Assess risks related to low-altitude and urban operations.
  • Coordinate with ATM/UTM stakeholders.
  • Incident & Occurrence Management:
  • Lead investigations of incidents and anomalies.
  • Ensure regulatory reporting and corrective action closure.
  • Regulatory & Certification Interface:
  • Act as primary safety interface with DGCA / FAA / EASA.
  • Support certification and operational approval activities.
  • Safety Data & Continuous Improvement:
  • Analyze flight test and operational safety data.
  • Maintain safety dashboards and risk registers.
  • Training & Safety Promotion:
  • Deliver eVTOL-specific safety training and briefings.
  • Promote confidential safety reporting.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical / Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • SMS certification preferred.
  • 710 years of experience in flight safety, flight test, or aviation operations.
  • eVTOL, UAV, or electric aircraft experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies:


  • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems and safety principles.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Independent safety decision-making ability.
