About the Role
Cumulativ Consulting is looking for a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to join us on a long-term contract basis for US based client. You'll be working on production-grade applications used by real customers, collaborating with a lean, senior team that values clean architecture, scalability, and ownership.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, build, and maintain scalable Ruby on Rails applications
- Own features end-to-end: design development deployment optimization
- Work with PostgreSQL and relational data modeling
- Deploy and manage applications on Heroku
- Build and consume RESTful APIs
- Write clean, testable, and well-documented code
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and architecture teams
- Debug production issues and improve performance & reliability
- Participate in technical decision-making and architecture discussions
Required Skills & Experience
- 6+ years of professional Ruby on Rails experience
- Strong understanding of Rails internals, MVC, ActiveRecord, background jobs
- Hands-on experience with Heroku (deployments, dynos, add-ons, logs, pipelines)
- Solid experience with PostgreSQL
- Experience building and maintaining REST APIs
- Strong Git workflow experience
- Ability to work independently in a remote, contract environment
- Excellent communication and ownership mindset
Nice to Have
- Experience with Redis
- Experience with RSpec / testing frameworks
- Exposure to AWS services
- Frontend familiarity (React / Hotwire / Stimulus)
- Experience working in consulting or product-led environments
