Join our Finance Transformation practice to help Deloitte client service teams define and execute Finance and Global Business Services agendas and strategies. Position Summary Level - RTR Senior Consultant

The Senior Consultant will have a pivotal role in guaranteeing precise financial reporting and analysis activities. This role involves close collaboration with various departments to collect crucial financial data.

Role objective:

This role is part of Deloitte's Finance Transformation - Finance Operate team. This practice provides operate-related support to the clients across industries. By continuously broadening our capabilities we are uniquely positioned to use our specialized skills to leverage activities to the appropriate level and implement best practices.

Work you'll do:

You will focus on the following areas:

  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding and knowledge of accounting principles, rules, policies, procedures or technology to ensure appropriate accounting and reporting.
  • Review the end-to-end Record to Report (R2R) process, including general ledger accounting, period-end close, monthly and quarterly reporting, Balance sheet reconciliations, Journal entries preparation, financial consolidation, statutory and management reporting, tax accounting, and audit support, ensuring compliance with US GAAP. including the evaluation and interpretation of financial statements and reports.
  • Own end-to-end service delivery for one or more finance-process towers within R2R across 15-30 FTEs; meet/exceed all contractual SLA, KPI, quality and compliance targets.
  • Provide an Operate-to-Transform lens during due-diligence and transition phases; design the future-state solution, capacity & cost model and benefit case.
  • Manage client relationship at Operations-Leader level: run weekly governance calls and quarterly business reviews (QBRs), handle audit queries, and partner with BD teams to craft change orders or new-scope proposals.
  • Drive operational efficiencies in the financial close and reporting process through providing efficient, sustainable, and technology-enabled solutions aligned with accounting and financial reporting requirements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation and process improvement within the various accounting processes.
  • Must possess solid understanding of the controls used in various end-to-end record to report processes.
  • Possess the ability to independently conduct research on complex accounting issues, along with the aptitude to guide and propose potential solutions or corrective actions to the team.
  • Maintain constant communication with clients to build strong relationships, which are crucial for the smooth delivery of services.
  • Design to-be processes, target operating models and digital solution architectures; oversee delivery through internal CoEs and third-party vendors.
  • Act as senior escalation points for process, system and compliance issues; perform root-cause analysis and embed preventive controls (SOX / IFC / GDPR ready)
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of 15-30 FTEs: workforce planning, goal setting, performance reviews, succession and capability uplift.
  • Proactively surface risks, issues and strategic opportunities in internal and client Steer Cos; provide data-driven recommendations and mitigation plans.
  • Implement the SLAs defined in the Statement of Work (SOW), ensuring they are effectively communicated, monitored, and achieved throughout the transition to maintain service quality and process compliance.
  • Lead the transition of financial operations from an external vendor.

Must Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications

  • CA (or equivalent) + 6–12 years post-qualification RTR/finance operations experience
  • Shared Services Center (SSC)/BPO experience
  • Deep R2R process expertise: GL accounting, period-end close, monthly/quarter reporting, BS reconciliations, journal entries, consolidation, statutory & management reporting, tax accounting, audit support
  • US GAAP knowledge and financial close/reporting compliance
  • Controls & compliance mastery across R2R; SOX/IFC/GDPR-ready preventive controls
  • Issue escalation & problem-solving: senior escalation point; root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
  • Client operations leadership: run weekly governance, QBRs (quarterly business reviews), manage audit queries, maintain strong client relationships
  • Team leadership: Experience in leading teams of 15-30 colleagues and collaborating with teams across multiple geographies
  • Strong communication: excellent written/oral English, facilitation, presentations, stakeholder management
  • MS Office proficiency; high accuracy, analytical skills, ability to multitask in fast-paced environments
  • SOW (Statement of Work) SLA implementation: communicate/monitor/achieve SLAs through transitions
  • ERP/Finance tools exposure: Oracle, SAP, Blackline, Infor, Coupa, Cognos, Acadia 6.5 (and similar)

Good to Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications:

  • Operate-to-Transform / due diligence: future-state solutioning, capacity & cost modeling, benefit case creation
  • PMO (project management office) experience (1-2 years preferred)
  • Big 4 / BPO transition experience; leading transition from an external vendor
  • Service delivery leadership at scale: tower ownership across 15–30 FTEs with contractual SLA/KPI/quality/compliance
  • Automation & digital: robotic process automation (RPA), GenAI, predictive analytics; process automation identification/implementation
  • Oracle/SAP certifications
  • Automation tool certification

Education:

  • CA or equivalent with relevant experience. Location and Work Timings:
  • Hyderabad or Chennai

  • Able to work with flexibility to extend hours as per business requirements.
