Road Construction Supervisor manages daily site operations, leading crews, ensuring safety, and overseeing quality to complete road projects on time and within budget, handling everything from scheduling staff and equipment to liaising with engineers and managing subcontractors, while enforcing codes and quality standards. They interpret blueprints, order materials, prepare reports, and resolve on-site issues, acting as the crucial link between management, workers, and project goals.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite Supervision: Oversee daily construction activities, delegate tasks, and monitor progress.Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, regulations, and codes, ensuring a secure work environment.Crew Management: Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate construction workers and subcontractors.Project Coordination: Liaise with engineers, managers, and other professionals, and manage materials/equipment.Quality Control: Inspect work, check blueprints, and ensure adherence to project specifications.Administrative Tasks: Prepare reports, manage budgets, order supplies, and maintain records. Essential Skills & QualificationsExperience: Proven background in road or heavy construction supervision.Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, understand engineering drawings, and operate construction tools.Management: Strong leadership, planning, problem-solving, and communication skills.Knowledge: Familiarity with local, state, and federal construction laws and standards.Education: Often requires a high school diploma, with degrees in Civil Engineering beneficial.
