Role Description

Operational Risk Management (ORM), as part of the Chief Risk Office (CRO), operates as an independent 2nd Line of Defense function, collaborating with business and infrastructure areas (1st Line of Defense) to manage the non-financial risks (i.e., operational and reputational risks) of the bank within the group-wide risk appetite and to improve the control environment. ORM defines the ORM framework for the appropriate identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, reporting, and escalation of non-financial risks.

  • The Regional OR department for Germany and Europe, Risk Type Control for Physical Risk & Human Capital Risk, and Portfolio OR Private Bank & DWS are responsible for overseeing the operational risk profile of these areas.
  • The newly established team Regulatory Engagement Coordination ORM supports the ongoing management of interactions between ORM function representatives and regulators and aims to facilitate coherent communication, i.a. through AI-enabled portfolio oversight.

Your key responsibilities

Objective of the newly established Regulatory Engagement Coordination ORM- function is:

  • Ongoing management of interaction between ORM function representatives and regulators ensure coherent messaging, i.a. by maintaining AI enabled oversight of portfolio.

The Regulatory Engagement Coordination Team shall be responsible for:

  • Orchestrating and coordinating all regulatory engagement activities across ORM, ensuring consistent, coherent, and timely communication with regulators.
  • Acting as the central point for managing ORM's regulatory interaction, maintaining inventories of engagements and deliverables, and leveraging AI-driven tools to enhance efficiency and messaging consistency.
  • Ensuring alignment about these regulatory engagements and readiness for those across ORM. The interface with regulators remains with Regional Portfolio Roles and Risk Type Heads (RTHs).
  • The Risk Specialist (Associate) will provide crucial support across all functions, focusing on data collection, analysis, report generation, and ensuring the smooth operational flow of regulatory engagement activities, learning and developing their expertise within the ORM framework.

Your skills and experience

  • Many years of experience (min. 3 years) as a Risk Manager, particularly with expertise in Operational Risk Management (pronounced knowledge of the ORM framework and its practical application).
  • Experience in coordinating regulatory contacts/supervisory authorities.
  • Professional experience in interacting, communicating, and engaging with supervisory authorities.
  • Flexibility and problem-solving skills to acquire new knowledge/technologies/workflows, as well as the ability to achieve excellent results even under time pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, coupled with the ability to navigate different international, hierarchical, and cultural levels.
  • Very good spoken and written English skills. Good spoken and written German skills are a plus.
