Job Description

As a Risk & Controls Manager, you will play a critical role in strengthening the bank's risk management capability by anticipating, assessing, and mitigating material risks. You will support senior management in embedding robust risk frameworks, ensuring policy compliance, and driving proactive risk management practices across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior management in identifying, assessing, and monitoring material risks against defined risk appetites
  • Drive the assessment, implementation, and embedding of risk frameworks, policies, and regulatory changes across the bank
  • Lead the development, execution, and tracking of remedial action plans where risks are identified as outside appetite
  • Promote a culture of proactive, pre-emptive risk management and continuous improvement
  • Coach and support teams across the bank to embed Intelligent Risk Taking and effective control ownership
  • Analyse risk metrics and management information to support informed decision-making
  • Educate stakeholders on the operational risk framework, conduct risk obligations, and enterprise-wide risk practices
  • Partner closely with first, second, and third lines of defence to ensure effective risk governance
  • Ensure timely delivery of risk and control actions to meet internal and external stakeholder expectations

Leadership & Governance

  • Lead and support people managers and teams in the execution of risk and control activities
  • Oversee controls testing, end-to-end risk reviews, and scenario analysis activities
  • Contribute to enterprise-wide risk discussions and governance forums
  • Support the evolution of risk practices through the responsible use of data, analytics, and emerging technologies such as AI in risk testing

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 13 years of experience in risk and control management within a complex organisation
  • Strong experience in enterprise-wide risk management frameworks and operational risk methodologies
  • Proven expertise in controls testing, risk assessments, and scenario analysis
  • Demonstrated people management experience with the ability to coach and develop teams
  • Practical understanding of how AI and advanced analytics can be applied to risk testing and assurance activities
  • Strong business and operational acumen with the ability to assess risk in both strategic and operational contexts
